Well of course it’s a five-star book; these stories are the winners! And having just read them, and changed my mind over and over as to which was my real favorite, rather like being at a banquet and being served all of one’s favorite foods, I was at something of a loss to find one that rose above the others…until the very end, and if I had to choose one of them, that would be it. That one, or Russell Banks’s “A Permanent Member of the Family”, a poignant, terrible, magnificent story that I had actually already read and reviewed about a year ago in a collection by that author. So, it goes without saying that Banks is a giant, and I just sort of set him aside with the knowledge that he was untouchable, and then read and compared the rest. But why take my word for it? Don’t just listen to me! Look here at how I’ve rambled on forever without mentioning that I got this book scot free (lucky me) from Net Galley and Knopf Doubleday Publishers in exchange for an honest review. This outstanding collection will be available for purchase September 15. I don’t know how you can bear to wait that long!

I can't believe it took me so long to review this, considering I purchased it well over 2 years ago. I purchased this for the man of the house since he supposedly has/had (does it ever go away?) periodontal disease. Long story short, I am the one who has ended up using it the most. Yes, it's a little messy and requires a bit of a laborious routine, but I think it's well worth it.

A friend of my husbands has been using this product and has noticeably lost some weight with it in the past few months, so my husband got samples from him and brought them home. After reading the label and seeing all the super-foods in it I wanted to try it out. Since I don't believe in regular vitamin supplements I thought this was a good option since it has a lot of whole foods and you add water to the powder to drink it, which, I feel is more easily absorbed. After 3 days I couldn't wait to try more because I did like the energy I felt throughout the day apparently due to the stimulant Guarana which has a lot of caffeine and numerous health benefits. (See link at bottom of review.) I did suffer some side effects from using this product, specifically I have had some intense detox with headache. I know I was in detox because I could smell the toxins coming out of my skin. After reading other reviews I was worried about my blood pressure and my husbands because his is usually very high. We have been getting it taken several times a week and both our blood pressures have been lower than ever. I also have tried the Protein drinks from the same company. I really loved them, they taste like pudding and only have 100 calories. I think they are perfect for meal replacement. http://www.amafruits.com/guarana

I bought 2 cases, it tastes good but didn't help me at all. I wouldn't suggest buying. It's very expensive and didn't work for my joints. I going back to joint juice.
